WHY THE CHURCH?
Volunteers For Christ, as a ministry of Cornerstone Church of Knoxville, exists to build up the local church. On campus, we strive to preach the gospel and lead people to a church where they can hear rich, biblical preaching and live uprightly in thriving relationships. So, though VFC is a ministry of a local church, it is not a church and will not satisfy the needs of a church.Without a church, a Christian is in a dangerous position. He is cut off from hearing rich, biblical preaching and insight into the Word of God. He is cut off from the encouragement and admonishment of others (Eph 4:29, Gal 6:1, Heb 3:13); thus, leaving him in a place where sin will more easily fester. He is not properly equipped to do the work of ministry (Eph 4:11,12).
Therefore, it is our joy to encourage you to go to a healthy, local church and to build your life around a local church. Take your college years as an opportunity to really invest in a local church.
